Minutes of
Treasure Coast Archeological Society Meeting
January 6, 2010
 
The next meeting is on Wednesday, February  3, 2010.
 
Marty Hufnagel will bring doughnuts, Anne Pacowski will make the coffee; and Dale and Kira Thesenvitz will bring the drinks to the February meeting.
 
The January meeting was called to order at 7:40 p.m. by Richard Hart, Sr., President of TCAS.
 
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Richard Hart, II.
 
The minutes can be read on the club web site which is www.tcas.us.   They are also emailed to members with email addresses on file.

The guests were asked to introduce themselves.
 
Mary McGee gave the Treasurer’s report.    

 

Member info:  This month the following persons renewed their TCAS membership for 2010:
 
 Beaulieu, Gerard   Pankiewicz, Ted
 Gaudet, Ted   Pearson, Mark
 Hanson, Frank   Rose, Will
 Haywood, Wayne   Shannon, Terry
 Normando, Neil   Wilsnack, Doug
 
Richard Hart awarded Neil Normando with the Find of the Month certificate for the gold watch he found in December.
 
Mark Pearson was awarded the Master Hunter  award for the year 2009.
 
Mitch King talked about the GNRS (Grand National Relic Shootout) hunt which will be January 14-16 .  Mitch King, Skip Watson, Richard and Joan Hart will be participating for the Garrett team.  There are teams of 20 people on a manufacturer’s team.  They are chosen by lottery.

Saturday, March  13, 2010 is the date set for the TCAS Annual Benefit Hunt.  There will be a meeting of officers and board members.  They will meet at Marty Hufnagel’s home on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 7:00 p.m..
 
Frank Rothery  was our speaker this evening.  He talked about the Minelab metal detector  and how it works in different kinds of soil and how to clean the connectors.
 
Mark Holshoe showed a large sample ballot for judging the “Finds” on he table for the month and how to mark the ballot.  A circle is to be marked for the choice made in each category and an “X”.for the Find of the Month choice.
 
All members who had a “Find of  the Month” in 2009 are to bring their “Find” to the February meeting if they want them judged.  If  you no longer have your “find”, a picture will be acceptable.  An award will be given to the person with the best find.
