Treasure Coast Archeological Society Meeting

July 1, 2009

 

The next meeting is on Wednesday, August 5, 2009.

The Martin’s volunteered to bring drinks. Marty Hufnagel will bring the doughnuts and Anne Pacowski will make the coffee for the August meeting.

The July meeting was called to order at 7:45 p.m.. by Richard Hart, Sr., President of TCAS.

The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Richard Hart, II.

The minutes can be read on the web site which is: www.tcas.us

They are also emailed to members with email addresses on file. There are printed copies available to those members that do not have an email address.

Mary McGee gave the Treasurer’s report. We have $3,516.00. She is waiting to buy silver for the hunt in March.

Mitch King reported what he has done to get the new website up and running. The website is: http://www.TCAS.us

Mark Holshoe was presented a certificate for the June Find of the Month. His find was for Jewelry.

Richard talked about the Molasses Raffle. It was started at the June meeting and will continue until the December meeting. The winner must be present to win. Tickets this month were six for $6. The price will go up a dollar each month until December. A Garrett Ace 250 metal detector will be one of the prizes. A new metal detecting prize will be added each month until December.

Richard introduced Tom Dankowski, our speaker for this evening

Mr. Dankowski was presented an honorary membership to our club.

Tom gave an excellent presentation on beach hunting; identifying target density and stratification,

Beach cutting and erosion,

Capabilities of various size coils,

Multi-frequencies provided by various detectors,

Preservation of detectors and equipment in salt water situations

(He suggested that you carry a bottle of distilled water in your trunk),

And the use of various detectors in search of various targets.

He said the Minelab and Fisher metal detectors produce excellent results over wet salt beach sand.

The Gold Bug II will find the smallest pieces of gold and is most profitable. When using a Gold Bug II, you will need a child’s sand sifter.
